Unlike my competitors I don't charge the average website for a hosting package, a domain registration, or a per page charge. I have a hosting package with plenty of disk space and bandwidth to handle all of my needs and unless you're planning a really large site, probably all of yours. That is why I don't charge for hosting space. I also don't charge for the $8.95/year domain name registration, which some of my competitors charge up to $70.00 for! Finally, I don't charge a per page design charge. I've seen some companies charge $100.00 per page after the first ten. The sites that I install are dynamic and allow you and your users to create pages on your own.
So if I don't charge for hosting, domain, or per page then how do I make my living? I only charge for the initial set up of the website design and an hourly maintenance rate. I charge a design rate quoted before the site is started which I ask for half up front and the other half upon satisfactory completion of the site. If the site is unsatisfactory and a new agreement can not be reached, I will refund half of the deposit. I include free maintenance for the first month after the initial set up (which usually takes a week or so) to allow for tweaks and fixes. After the first month a flat rate of $14/hour will apply to all work that is done on the site. All work will be invoiced and billed to you directly with an itemized summery of the work that was done.
